The Fifth Annual "Growing the Neighborhood"

A Cleanup Day in Two Sections of Fairmount Park - Tacony Creek Park in Northeast Philadelphia and East Park in Strawberry Mansion.

It’s become an annual event that combines community spirit with environmental awareness. On Saturday, September 20th from 9 a.m. to noon, almost 100 corporate and neighborhood volunteers participated in the fifth-annual Fairmount Park Conservancy’s Growing the Neighborhood with Fairmount Park program. A special award was presented to the 2008 Growing the Neighborhood Logo Contest winner, Hussian School of Art senior Nick Calvanese, at the East Park location. Another Memorable Evening at the Fairmount Water Works

Thanks to all those who attended the Third Annual Water Works Celebration on September 14, 2008! Over 600 people enjoyed a warm and wonderful evening of drinks, dining, music, and beautiful views amidst the restored Water Works buildings and South Garden. This year guests were able to visit the Water Works Interpretive Center as well as the climb the Central Cliff Path to view the soon-to-be-completed Rustic and Mercury Pavilions and raised boardwalk (pictured above.) The celebration commemorated the conclusion of the Women for the Water Works $5 million campaign to restore and endow the South Garden and Cliffside Paths. Check back soon for photos of the event.
